Abstract
Multivariate techniques used in this thesis are described in Part I.
Techniques to select markers are of special interest.
Quantitative methods like the induced-variance- and determinant criterion work well in practice.
Other techniques - DISNORM, Procrustus analysis and variants - are worth trying.
Another important issue is the use of three-way methods.
These methods provide a general framework for thinking about calibration problems.
